As you know, our Grade 6 & 7 students will be given the exciting opportunity to learn and play a band instrument this year!

Some students must still select an instrument for band. When choosing an instrument there are several factors that must be considered: the student’s interest, physical compatibility with the instrument, and the needs of the band. There are five main instruments for the students to choose from:

Most Gray students attended an instrument demonstration at the end of last June, and selected an instrument. If your child does not have their instrument confirmed yet for this year, they will need to discuss their choice with Mr. Wiens by September 9, or parents can send him an email to discuss options.

Instrument Rental Night

Parents and students are welcome to rent an instrument from any of the local music stores or use one that they already have at home.  However, to simplify this process, we invite you to attend the Instrument Rental Night at Gray in the Library, on Monday September 9 at 7:00 p.m., held with Tapestry Music.

Tapestry Music, our store of choice for the year, can provide everything our students need – a band instrument, instrument accessories (i.e. a box of reeds, neck straps, valve oil, cleaning kits, etc.), Essential Elements Book 1, a music folder, pencil, and an optional music stand for practicing at home.

ALTERNATIVELY, you can rent using their online store (www.tapestrymusic.com). Select your school in the process and the instrument will be dropped off at the school during the Instrument Rental Night. The following day, you or your child can pick up the instrument.
