Grade 6/7 Music

Gray Grade 6/7 Band Information Letter – 2022-2023

The grade 6 and 7 music program focuses on beginning band and choir. The goal of the program is to help students appreciate music as a performance art in a fun and meaningful way.

Beginning Band

Beginning band is a highly participatory class. Students learn the basic technique of various brass, woodwind and percussion instruments in an ensemble setting as well as music theory. They demonstrate their learning through at least two school performances throughout the year (Christmas and year-end).

Grade 6 Choir

Students learn the basics of vocal technique and concepts and skills of singing in a choir. They demonstrate their learning through school and community performances throughout the year. Repertoire consists of various styles such as pop, classical, world music and folk.
