Emergency Release Drill

When:                      2:00 pm, Thursday, October 18th, 2018

Procedure:            ***Please ensure that the adult arriving to pickup the student has
                               picture ID with them.

  • Students will be lined up in division order on the turf field between Gray and Sands;
  • Adults cannot enter the field enclosure until all students are accounted for and the signal is given by the principal or designate;
  • It is important to know the grade, division number, and teacher’s name.
  • Designated adults will show their ID to the teacher and sign for the student before taking them;
  • Released students will be taken home for the remainder of the afternoon. Please do not stay to play on the playgrounds

It is important that all parents understand that all students, whether in kindergarten or grade 12, will only be dismissed from school in emergency situations to their parents or designated emergency release adult.  In order to maintain the safety of your children, there can be no exceptions.

  • Parents need to update their Emergency Contacts via Parent Connect  **Please note that the “emergency release contact” line is updated in a different area than the “emergency contact” line.
  • If your child is to be released to a grandparent, aunt, uncle, friend, daycare, etc. the individual must be listed as an Emergency Release Contact.
  • Changes made to information on Parent Connect after Monday, Oct 16th will not be reflected on the reports and this will cause a delay in releasing your child.

We would like to have as many adults as possible involved in order to refine our processes and be ready in case of an actual serious emergency that would require students to be released.

However, as this is not an early dismissal day, if you are unable to arrange pick up for your child as part of this drill, all remaining students will return to their classes and will be dismissed at 3:00 pm as usual.
